Welcome to the support site for DairyWIN. DairyWIN is a computer program for dairy farmers, veterinarians, and farm advisors. It assists with day-to-day herd management and enables comprehensive monitoring of herd performance. Running under the Windows environment, DairyWIN is both easy and flexible to use with other software applications. DairyWIN is developed by the EpiCentre at Massey University, New Zealand.

DairyWIN is the only herd health software package that has the flexibility to produce meaningful reports for both seasonal and non-seasonally calving dairy herds.
Other herd health software report reproductive performance in terms of averages (e.g. herd average calving to first service interval for a defined period, herd average calving to conception interval for a defined period). This approach is flawed since most herd reproductive indices do not show a normal (bell-shaped) distribution allowing them to be described adequately by an average figure!
DairyWIN overcomes this problem in its reproductive reports by concentrating on how quickly it takes the herd to achieve a target. For example, the submission rate reports examine the cumulative proportion of the herd receiving their first service after a defined planned start of mating date. Reproductive reports in DairyWIN are therefore more informative.
DairyWIN has drawn on the logic and experience of its successful predecessor, DairyMAN. All reports have been designed and developed by a team of private veterinary practitioners, dairy production consultants and veterinary epidemiologists. The logic behind the calculation of most reports in the program are described in considerable detail via the technical notes provided in the on-line help file.
